Globe Tatoo vs Smart Bro vs Sun Broadband

Wireless broadband in the Philippines is now highly praised and highly priced. The convenience that these broadband sticks provide makes them very ideal for people who travel a lot with their laptops and netbooks or even with desktop computer users in the Philippines.

However, many Filipinos are also complaining about the high price that the three companies offering these sticks stamp on them.

A broadband stick usually costs between 1000 pesos to 1400 pesos. Using it will cost you 20 pesos per hour. If you subscribe to their unlimited service, you will be paying 50 pesos per day.

Because of this, we have to compare these three brands and choose what's the best.

Smart Bro

Smart broadband is probably the most well-known broadband stick in the Philippines today.

It is fast in areas with 3G connectivity, speeds up to 600 kbps when downloading. That takes downloading movies 2 hours each.

However, many will attest that they have been a victim of Smart "stealing" load from them. Even cellphone users have experienced this one. Now you have 30 pesos of load, then it suddenly disappears!

Although SMART has the widest signal coverage in the country, there are still many areas with only GPRS signal. That means the highest download speed you can get is around 40 kbps. It makes downloading movies take a day or two.

Globe Tatoo

Globe tatoo has this very stylish looks that makes them very cool!

Tatoo is also fast. Faster than smart. Downloading movies might take an hour only!

But the problem is Globe Tatoo's unlimited promo has a limit in amount of data. If you reached 800 MB in data transfer, download or upload, your unlimited subscription will be postponed the next day.

Sun Broadband

Sun broadband is the cheapest among these three giants. They offer three days unlimited internet for 100 pesos. That amount will only give you 2 days in globe and smart.

The downside is that sun's signal is relatively weaker. Many areas will only have GPRS speed.

My Choice:

Sun Broadband is my winner. I live in a rural place and 3G connectivity is only found in the city. If I take a speed test of the three broadband sticks at my house, they will all have almost the same speed. 30-40 kbps in download.

So why would I choose SMART that will steal load? Why Tatoo with 800MB limit?

I'll go with sun! How about you?
